Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive to diclofenac, acetylsalicylic acid, other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, isopropanol or any of the other ingredients.The medicine must not be used in the last trimester of pregnancy or by children and adolescents under 14 years of age.

Dosage

Diclofenac Heumann Gel is only intended for external use.Apply a cherry to walnut-sized amount thinly to the affected areas of the body and rub in lightly.Then wash your hands thoroughly, unless this is the area to be treated.Before applying a bandage, the medicinal gel should dry on the skin for a few minutes.Depending on the symptoms and the severity of the disease, using the drug for 1 to 3 weeks is sufficient.For adolescents aged 14 and over, a doctor should be consulted if pain persists for more than 7 days or if symptoms worsen.

Diclofenac Heumann Gel can be used 3 to 4 times a day for acute pain.Depending on the size of the area to be treated, an amount the size of a cherry to a walnut - equivalent to 2 to 4 g of gel or 20 to 40 mg of diclofenac sodium - is applied.The maximum daily dose of 16 g gel (160 mg diclofenac sodium) must not be exceeded.

Diclofenac Heumann Gel should not be used if you are allergic to diclofenac, isopropanol or any of the other ingredients of the medicine, or to other medicines used to treat pain, inflammation or fever (NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or acetylsalicylic acid).In addition, Diclofenac Heumann Gel must not be used on children and adolescents under the age of 14, in the last trimester of pregnancy or on open injuries, mucous membranes, eczema and inflammation or infections of the skin.

The active ingredient in Diclofenac Heumann Gel is diclofenac sodium.1 g of gel contains 10 mg of diclofenac sodium. Other ingredients include purified water, ethanol, isopropanol, carbomer and ammonia solution.

The expiry date of Diclofenac Heumann Gel is stated on the packaging and tube.After the expiry date, the medicine may no longer be used.After opening the tube, Diclofenac Heumann Gel has a shelf life of three months.To ensure effectiveness, the pain gel should not be stored above 25°C.

Compared to tablets, a medicinal ointment is less absorbed by the organism because it is applied externally.Local application provides relief exactly where the pain occurs.The active ingredient accumulates largely in the inflamed tissue and is only absorbed to a small extent into the blood.In addition, unlike when tablets are taken orally, the drug does not enter the gastrointestinal tract and cannot cause any undesirable side effects.

Take special care when using diclofenac if you have had a previous hypersensitivity reaction to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or painkillers with asthma attacks, skin reactions or acute allergic rhinitis.The preparation should only be used with caution.If you suffer from asthma, chronic bronchoconstrictive respiratory diseases, hay fever or swelling of the nasal mucous membranes, you may react more often than other sick people to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs with asthma attacks, local swelling of the skin or mucous membranes or hives.The medicine should only be applied to intact skin areas, not to skin wounds or open injuries.Eyes and mucous membranes should not come into contact with the product.Elderly patients require particularly careful medical monitoring.

Pregnancy

In the first and second trimesters of pregnancy, you may only use the product after consulting your doctor.You must not use the medicine in the last trimester of pregnancy as an increased risk of complications for mother and child cannot be ruled out.Since small amounts of diclofenac pass into breast milk, prolonged use of diclofenac during breastfeeding should be avoided if possible and a daily dosage of 16 g of gel should not be exceeded.To avoid absorption by the baby, breastfeeding mothers should not use the medicine in the breast area.
