Instructions for use for Calcigen D Citro 600 mg / 400 IU chewable tablets, 200 pcs
Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients
The preparation contains the active ingredients calcium carbonate and vitamin D3 (colecalciferol). One chewable tablet consists of 1500 mg calcium carbonate, which corresponds to 600 mg calcium ions, and 4 mg colecalciferol dry concentrate, which corresponds to 400 international units (IU) or 10 mcg colecalciferol. In addition, the preparation contains the following excipients: butylated hydroxytoluene, gelatin, magnesium stearate (vegetable), pre-gelatinized corn starch, mannitol, sodium aluminum silicate, sucrose, highly disperse silicon dioxide, modified starch, medium-chain triglycerides, xylitol, sodium ions and lemon flavor.
Area of application
This medicine is used to treat combined vitamin D and calcium deficiencies in elderly patients. It can also be used as an adjunct to osteoporosis treatment when vitamin D and calcium levels are too low or there is a high risk of such deficiencies.Calcium is an important component of bones, and vitamin D3 improves the absorption of calcium from the intestine and its incorporation into the bones. No prescription is required for this product.
Contraindications
The product must not be taken if you are allergic to calcium carbonate, vitamin D or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Its use is also contraindicated if calcium concentrations in the blood are too high (hypercalcemia) and/or increased calcium excretion in the urine (hypercalcuria). The preparation is also not suitable if there are prerequisites for hypercalcemia and/or hypercalcuria, such as an overactive parathyroid gland, bone marrow disease (myeloma) or malignant bone tumors (bone metastases).Patients with kidney failure, kidney stones (nephrolithiasis) or calcium deposits in the kidneys (nephrocalcinosis) as well as a vitamin D overdose (hypervitaminosis D) should not take the preparation.
Dosage
Always take this medicine exactly as described or exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.The usual dose for adults and the elderly is one tablet twice a day, for example one in the morning and one in the evening.Pregnant women should only take one tablet per day.During long-term treatment, calcium levels in the urine and blood must be monitored, especially if you develop kidney stones frequently. This preparation is not suitable for use in children and adolescents. The doctor decides how long the treatment will last.
Intake
The chewable tablets should be chewed and then swallowed with a little liquid. In exceptional cases, e.g.B. in patients with chewing problems, the tablets can also be sucked after consulting the doctor.
Patient information
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the product.During long-term treatment, serum calcium levels and renal function should be checked regularly. This is particularly important in older patients and during simultaneous treatment with cardiac glycosides (e.g. digoxin) and diuretics. Before taking, consider the amount of vitamin D, calcium and alkali already taken from other sources to avoid the risk of Burnett syndrome (milk-alkaline syndrome).Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have kidney stones, an immune system disorder (sarcoidosis), limited mobility with reduced bone mass (osteoporosis) or kidney dysfunction. The preparation is not suitable for use in children and adolescents. No effects on the ability to drive or use machines are expected.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. This medicine can be used during pregnancy, but the daily intake should not exceed 1,500 mg of calcium and 600 IU of vitamin D.If you are pregnant, you should not take more than one chewable tablet per day.Higher doses may be harmful to the unborn child. This preparation can be used during breastfeeding.Since calcium and vitamin D3 are excreted in breast milk, you must first consult your doctor whether your child is already receiving products that contain vitamin D3.Pregnant and breastfeeding women should take this medicine two hours before or after meals to avoid possible interference with iron absorption.
Notes
Read the entire leaflet carefully as it contains important information for you. This medicine is available without a prescription. However, in order to achieve the best possible treatment success, the chewable tablets must be used correctly.Keep the package leaflet. You may want to read these again later.Ask your pharmacist if you need further information or advice. If your symptoms worsen or do not improve, you should definitely see a doctor. If any of the side effects listed get serious or you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
