Summary: Lactulose AL syrup is a laxative and is used to treat constipation that cannot be adequately influenced by a high-fibre diet and other measures. It is also used in conditions requiring facilitated bowel movements and to prevent and treat brain damage in liver disease (portocaval encephalopathy). The syrup contains lactulose, fructose, galactose and lactose and has a carbohydrate content of 17 g per 100 ml. Lactulose AL syrup should be taken according to the dosage instructions. Side effects may include gastrointestinal discomfort and disturbances of salt balance. The medicine should be stored away from heat.
