Information

Bifon solution is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent used to treat fungal skin diseases.The active ingredient bifonazole penetrates the affected skin layers and kills the fungus.It also has an anti-inflammatory effect.The solution is particularly suitable for use in the spaces between the toes and has also been proven for mild nail fungal infections, but only after prior keratolytic removal of the infected nail substance.

No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

Bifon solution is used for various fungal skin diseases caused by dermatophytes, yeasts, molds and other pathogens such as Malassezia furfur or Corynebacterium minutissimum.These include:

Fungal diseases of the skin and skin folds, such as tinea corporis and tinea inguinalis, fungal infections between fingers and toes known as tinea pedis and tinea manuum, bran fungus, also called pityriasis versicolor, superficial yeast infections of the skin, such as candidiasis, and dwarf ringworm, also called erythrasma.

Mode of action

Bifonazole, the active ingredient in Bifon solution, acts as an antifungal and fights fungal skin diseases.It penetrates the affected skin layers and kills the fungi.It also has anti-inflammatory properties.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Bifon solution contains the active ingredient bifonazole.One milliliter of the solution contains 10 milligrams of bifonazole.Other ingredients include ethanol 96% and isopropyl myristate.

Contraindications

Bifon solution should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.

Dosage and application

Bifon solution is applied thinly to the affected skin areas and rubbed in once a day, preferably in the evening before going to bed.As a rule, about three drops are enough for an area the size of a palm.Before each use, the affected skin areas should be washed and dried thoroughly, especially hard-to-reach areas such as the spaces between the toes.

In order to achieve lasting healing, treatment should not be stopped after the acute symptoms have subsided.It should be continued until the positive fungal cultures disappear, but at least 14 days after the symptoms have subsided.If the condition worsens or if there is no improvement after about a week, you should consult a doctor.

Patient information

Before using Bifon solution, you should speak to a doctor or pharmacist, especially if you have had hypersensitivity to other antifungals in the past.The solution should not get into the eyes and should be kept away from sources of ignition due to its ethanol content.

In infants and young children, the preparation should only be used under medical supervision and care should be taken to ensure that no solution gets into the child's mouth.

The preparation has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

During pregnancy, bifonazole should only be used after careful risk-benefit assessment.Use in the first trimester of pregnancy should be avoided.It is not known whether bifonazole is excreted in human milk, therefore breast-feeding should be discontinued during treatment with bifonazole.

Notes

Hygienic measures such as regular linen changes should be carried out during treatment.
