Information for use on Macrogol beta plus electrolytes, a powder for the preparation of a solution for oral use, is summarised as follows: Macrogol beta plus electrolytes is a medicinal product for the treatment of constipation in adults, adolescents and elderly patients. It is not recommended for children under 12 years of age. The medicine helps with comfortable bowel movements, even if someone has already suffered from constipation for a long period of time. The recommended dose is 1 sachet dissolved in 125 ml of water, 1-3 times a day, depending on the severity of the constipation. The powder is dissolved in water and the solution can be drunk directly. Treatment with Macrogol beta plus electrolytes usually lasts about 2 weeks, but can be prolonged if necessary. Possible side effects may include gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, flatulence, bloating and abdominal pain. People who are hypersensitive to the ingredients or have certain diseases such as intestinal obstruction, inflammatory bowel disease or toxic megacolon should not take the medicine. The medicine should be kept away from heat and out of the reach of children. It should not be used after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
