Nystatin acis cream is an antifungal agent for the treatment of nystatin-sensitive yeast infections of the skin, especially with involvement of Candida spp. such as nappy candidiasis. The cream acts specifically against saprophytic and parasitic yeast fungi, especially Candida species. It inhibits the spread of the pathogens and can kill them. The germ density plays a role here, so the maximum dosage should always be used if the germ density is unknown. The application period is about 6 days until the disease subsides, after which the treatment should be continued for another 8-10 days. The cream is applied thinly to the affected skin areas and massaged in gently. In case of overdose, skin rash, itching and burning may occur. The medicine should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to nystatin or any of the other ingredients. The medicinal product can be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding, as no harmful effects are known. Side effects occur only in exceptional cases. In addition to the active substance nystatin, the cream also contains other ingredients such as cetyl alcohol, propylene glycol and purified water. The medicinal product is intended for external use and should be stored away from heat. It is available in household quantities and can be used by infants, young children and the elderly. There is no evidence that the medicinal product impairs the ability to drive or operate machinery. During use, attention should be paid to parabens and emulsifiers contained in the cream as they may cause hypersensitivity reactions. The medicinal product should not be used for longer than 6 months after opening.
