Rivanol® is a proven antiseptic wound treatment that prevents infections and helps to quickly resolve infections that begin.The antiseptic active ingredient ethacridine lactate works against bacteria and fungi and supports natural wound healing.Rivanol® is available in three dosage forms: an ointment, a solution and a powder for making a solution.This allows for flexible application for different needs.

Areas of application

Rivanol® 1.0 g powder is used for local use as an antiseptic.It is effective against a variety of pathogenic bacteria and fungi and is used, for example, against wound infections.The solution prepared from the preparation can be used for antiseptic rinsing of wounds and body cavities as well as in the mouth and throat.Rivanol® is ideal for the treatment of small external wounds, minor injuries, skin inflammation, minor burns or insect bites.

Rivanol® 1.0 g contains the active ingredient ethacridine lactate monohydrate.One sachet of 1.5 g powder contains 1.0 g ethacridine lactate monohydrate.The other ingredient is urea.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, the product should not be used.The solution made from the preparation must not be used in the eye area.

Dosage

To prepare a solution with a concentration of 0.1%, dissolve the contents of 1 sachet of Rivanol® 1.0 g in 1 liter of warm water while stirring constantly.To prepare a 0.05% solution, add the contents of 1 sachet of Rivanol® 1.0 g to 2 liters of water.If you have warmed the solution, it should be cooled back to room temperature before use.

The solution can be used as a compress, rinse or, for example, in the form of a hand bath.The general dosage guideline is: allow the 0.1% solution to act locally for at least 30 minutes twice a day.Do not use Rivanol® 1.0 g for longer than 7 days without medical advice.

Notes

Rivanol® 1.0 g powder and the solution prepared from it turns skin, laundry and other objects yellow.Contact of the powder or solution with materials that can become colored (e.g. clothing, carpets, PVC-floors, etc.) should be avoided.Do not wash cloths that have been soaked with the solution in the washing machine with other textiles.Fresh stains can be easily removed from laundry by simply washing, but they are difficult to remove after drying and oxidation.

Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.The preparation should not be used during pregnancy as there are no sufficient studies on teratogenic effects.Since it is not known whether the substance passes into breast milk, it should not be used during breastfeeding.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the product.Particular care is required when using it.The solution should be prepared as freshly as possible before use.Poultices and dressings should only be used once. With repeated use, the active ingredient concentration of the solution would increase significantly due to evaporation.This could lead to local irritation and possibly hypersensitivity to the active ingredient.
