Calcium Vitamin D3 acis 500 mg/400 IU chewable tablets are a dosage form that contains the active ingredients calcium and vitamin D3.Both substances play an important role in bone formation.These chewable tablets can be used to prevent and treat calcium and vitamin D deficiencies in older people.They can also serve as an adjunct to support specific osteoporosis therapy for patients at risk of vitamin D and calcium deficiency.

The chewable tablets contain the active ingredients calcium and colecalciferol, also known as vitamin D3.A single chewable tablet contains 1,250 mg of calcium carbonate, equivalent to 500 mg of calcium, and 10 micrograms of colecalciferol, equivalent to 400 IU of vitamin D3.In addition to the active ingredients, the preparation contains the following other ingredients: sorbitol, povidone, croscarmellose sodium, starch hydrolyzate, lemon flavor, magnesium stearate, modified corn starch, aspartame, sucrose, sodium ascorbate, medium-chain triglycerides, highly disperse silicon dioxide and all-rac-α-tocopherol.

Contraindications

The product should not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.The preparation must also not be taken if the calcium content in the blood or urine is too high, if there is severe kidney dysfunction, if there are kidney stones or if the vitamin D content in the blood is too high.

Dosage

The recommended daily dose is one chewable tablet twice.The tablets can either be chewed or sucked.

Before taking the chewable tablets, you should speak to a doctor or pharmacist, especially in the case of long-term treatment, impaired kidney function, a strong tendency to kidney stone formation, sarcoidosis, immobilization with osteoporosis or the taking of other vitamin D or calcium preparations.Additional doses of calcium and vitamin D should only be taken under strict medical supervision.In the case of osteoporosis, it is recommended to have the calcium level in the blood checked before starting treatment.During long-term treatment, the calcium content of the blood must be checked regularly.If kidney function is impaired, the doctor should monitor the effect of treatment on calcium and phosphate balance.The chewable tablets are not intended for children and adolescents.No studies have been conducted on the effects on the ability to drive and use machines, but an adverse effect is unlikely.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy, the medicine can be used for calcium and vitamin D deficiency.However, the daily intake should not exceed 1,500 mg calcium and 600 IU vitamin D, with the daily dose not exceeding one tablet per day.The product can also be used during breastfeeding.However, it should be taken into account that the active ingredients are excreted in breast milk if the child receives additional doses of vitamin D.
