Ibutop 400 mg pain tablets are an anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving medicine that contains the active ingredient ibuprofen.It is used to treat mild to moderate pain and fever.The tablets are lactose-free and can be dosed individually because they can be divided.They are made in Germany and are available in different pack sizes.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in Ibutop 400 mg painkillers is ibuprofen.Each film-coated tablet contains 400 mg ibuprofen and half a tablet contains 200 mg ibuprofen.The other ingredients are corn starch, carboxymethyl starch sodium (type A) (Ph.Eur.), hypromellose, talc, highly dispersed silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.) [pflanzlich], titanium dioxide (E171) and macrogol 6,000.

What are Ibutop 400 mg painkillers used for?

Ibutop 400 mg painkillers provide effective relief from mild to moderate pain and reduce fever.They are used to treat a variety of ailments, including headaches, toothaches, menstrual cramps, muscle and joint pain, and pain and fever associated with the common cold.

Application and dosage

The tablet is taken whole and with sufficient liquid.Users with sensitive stomachs are advised to combine the product with a main meal.

Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over who weigh more than 40 kg receive 400 mg (1 tablet) as a single dose.If necessary, up to 3 tablets can be taken per day.Children aged 6 to 9 years with a body weight of over 20 kg take ½ tablet (200 mg) as a single dose.In this case, a maximum of 1 ½ tablets may be administered daily.Children aged 10 to 11 with a body weight of over 30 kg receive ½ tablet as a single dose and a maximum of 2 tablets daily.There must be an interval of 6 hours between each intake.

If the symptoms persist or worsen, children under 12 should consult their doctor after a maximum of 3 days.Adults should consult their doctor after 4 days of treatment without improvement;with fever after 3 days.

Special Notes

In order to avoid stress on the gastrointestinal tract, no other painkillers from the NSAR group may be taken in addition to Ibutop 400 mg.Severe digestive tract side effects may occur more frequently in older patients (over 60), so this group of users should be closely monitored by a doctor.In general, users should contact their doctor immediately if they suspect bleeding in the stomach or intestines.

In the first 2 trimesters of pregnancy, Ibutop 400 mg painkillers may only be used after consulting a doctor.It is not recommended to take it in the third trimester of pregnancy as it carries an increased risk of complications for mother and child.Although the active ingredient ibuprofen passes into breast milk in small quantities, no risks for the infant have been observed so far.It is therefore acceptable to take it for a limited period of time during breastfeeding.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to ibuprofen or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, if you have had asthma attacks, nasal mucous membrane swelling or skin reactions after taking acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in the past, if you have unexplained blood formation disorders, if you have existing or have had repeated stomach/duodenal ulcers or bleeding in the pastHistory of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation in connection with previous therapy with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs/anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAR), with cerebral hemorrhage or other active bleeding, with severe liver or kidney dysfunction, with severe heart failure (heart failure), in the last trimester of pregnancy or in children under 20 kg (6 years of age), as this dose strength is generally not suitable due to the active ingredient content.

Patient information

Please talk to your pharmacist before taking this medicine.Side effects can be minimized by using the lowest effective dose needed to control symptoms for the shortest period of time.Concomitant use of this medicine with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, including so-called COX-2 inhibitors (cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors), should be avoided. Older patients are more likely to experience side effects after using NSAR , especially bleeding and perforations in the stomach and intestines, which can be life-threatening under certain circumstances.Therefore, particularly careful medical monitoring is required in older patients.

Gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers and perforations, including fatal outcomes, have been reported during treatment with all NSAR .They occurred with or without previous warning symptoms or a history of serious gastrointestinal events at any time during therapy.The risk of developing gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers and perforations is higher with increasing NSARdose, in patients with a history of ulcers, especially with the complications of bleeding or perforations, and in elderly patients.These patients should begin treatment at the lowest available dose.

Anti-inflammatories/pain relievers such as ibuprofen may be associated with a slightly increased risk of a heart attack or stroke, especially when used in high doses.Do not exceed the recommended dose or treatment duration.You should discuss your treatment with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you have heart disease, including heart failure and angina (chest pain), or have had a heart attack, bypass surgery, peripheral arterial disease (circulation problems in the legs or feet due to narrowed or blocked arteries), or any type of stroke (including mini-stroke or transient ischemic attack ("TIA")).

Serious skin reactions with redness and blistering, some fatal, have been reported very rarely with NSARtherapy (exfoliative dermatitis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis/Lyell syndrome).The highest risk of such reactions appears to be at the start of therapy, as in the majority of cases these reactions occurred in the first month of treatment.At the first sign of skin rashes, mucous membrane defects or other signs of a hypersensitivity reaction, the medicine should be discontinued and the doctor should be consulted immediately.

This medicine should only be used after careful consideration of the benefit-risk ratio in certain congenital haematopoietic disorders (e.g. acute intermittent porphyria) or in certain autoimmune diseases (systemic lupus erythematosus and mixed connective tissue disease), as these patients have an increased risk of aseptic meningitis.Particularly careful medical monitoring is required in the case of impaired kidney function, as this can worsen further, in the case of liver function disorders, liver function disorders increase the risk of kidney damage and damage, as well as of severe, possibly fatal liver reactions, immediately after major surgical procedures or in the case of allergies (e.g. skin reactions to other medicines, asthma, hay fever), chronic swelling of the nasal mucous membranes or chronic respiratory diseases that narrow the airways.

Severe acute hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. anaphylactic shock) are very rarely observed.At the first signs of a severe hypersensitivity reaction after taking the drug, therapy must be discontinued.Medically necessary measures appropriate to the symptoms must be initiated by specialists.Ibuprofen, the active ingredient in this medicine, may temporarily inhibit platelet function (platelet aggregation).Patients with blood clotting disorders should therefore be carefully monitored.

If medicines containing ibuprofen are used at the same time, the anticoagulant effect of low-dose acetylsalicylic acid (preventing the formation of blood clots) may be impaired.In this case, you should therefore not use medicines containing ibuprofen without your doctor's express instructions.If you are simultaneously taking medicines to inhibit blood clotting or to lower blood sugar, blood clotting or blood sugar levels should be checked as a precaution.If this medication is administered for a long time, regular monitoring of liver values, kidney function and blood counts is necessary.

If you take this medicine before surgical procedures, you should consult or inform your doctor or dentist.Prolonged use of any type of painkiller for headaches can make them worse.If this is the case or suspected, medical advice should be sought and treatment discontinued. The diagnosis of Medication Overuse Headache (MOH) should be suspected in patients who suffer from frequent or daily headaches despite (or precisely because) they regularly take medication for headaches.

In general, the habitual use of painkillers, especially when several painkillers are combined, can lead to permanent kidney damage with the risk of kidney failure (analgesic nephropathy).When using NSAR , simultaneous consumption of alcohol can increase drug-related side effects, especially those affecting the gastrointestinal tract or the central nervous system.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.If pregnancy is discovered while using this medicine, the doctor should be notified.You may only use ibuprofen in the first and second trimesters of pregnancy after consulting your doctor.This medicine must not be used in the last trimester of pregnancy due to an increased risk of complications for mother and child.

The active ingredient ibuprofen and its breakdown products only pass into breast milk in small quantities.Since there are no known adverse consequences for the infant, it is generally not necessary to interrupt breastfeeding if used for a short period of time.However, if longer use or higher doses are prescribed, early cessation of breastfeeding should be considered.
