Perocur 250 mg hard capsules are a medicine for the treatment of acute diarrhoea, traveller's diarrhoea and tube fed diarrhoea. It contains the active ingredient dry yeast from Saccharomyces cerevisiae HANSEN CBS 5926. The hard capsules should be taken unchewed with sufficient liquid. The recommended dosage varies depending on age and application. For acute diarrhoea, the recommended dose is 1 hard capsule 1-2 times daily for children between 6 months and 2 years of age, and also 1 hard capsule 1-2 times daily for children 2 years of age and older, adolescents and adults. The duration of treatment is usually 4-7 days. For the prevention of travellers' diarrhoea, adolescents from 12 years of age and adults should take 1 hard capsule 1-2 times daily 5 days before departure. It is not recommended to take it during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Possible side effects may include flatulence, itching and allergic reactions. People with an allergy to yeast or an intolerance to lactose should not take the medicine.
