Perocur 250 mg hard capsules contain the following active ingredients: Saccharomyces cerevisiae HANSEN CBS 5926, Saccharomyces boulardii and dry yeast.The composition of a hard capsule includes 221.25 mg of dry yeast, corresponding to at least 2x10^10 viable cells per gram of lyophilisate in 250 mg of lyophilisate.The capsule also contains lactose, magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.), water, sodium dodecyl sulfate, chlorophyllin-copper complex (E 141), titanium dioxide (E 171) and iron (III) hydroxide oxide x H2O (E 172).

Contraindications

Perocur 250 mg hard capsules must not be taken if you are allergic to yeast or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.Due to the previously unassessable risk of generalized colonization with Saccharomyces cerevisiae HANSEN CBS 5926, the product should not be taken by patients with severely weakened immune systems, such as in HIV-infections, organ transplants, leukemia, malignant tumors, radiation, chemotherapy or long-term high-dose cortisone treatment, as well as patients with central venous catheters.

Dosage

Perocur 250 mg hard capsules should always be taken exactly as described in the package leaflet or after consultation with a doctor or pharmacist.For acute diarrhea, the recommended dose for children between 6 months and 2 years of age as well as for children from 2 years of age, adolescents and adults is 1 hard capsule 1 to 2 times daily.For children between 6 months and 2 years, treatment may only be carried out under medical supervision.It is not intended for use in infants under 6 months.To prevent traveler's diarrhea, adolescents aged 12 and over and adults should take 1 hard capsule 1 to 2 times daily starting 5 days before departure.It is not intended for use by children under 12 years of age.

The duration of use in the treatment of acute diarrheal diseases is usually 4 to 7 days.To prevent traveler's diarrhea, treatment should be carried out consistently throughout the entire duration of the trip.

Intake

Perocur 250 mg hard capsules are intended to be taken orally.The hard capsules should be swallowed whole with sufficient liquid, such as a glass of water, before meals.For children under 6 years of age, the hard capsule can be opened by pulling the capsule halves apart and the contents can be stirred into food or liquid at room temperature.In the case of diarrhea caused by tube feeding, only the contents of the capsules should be added to the nutrient solution.

Before taking Perocur 250 mg hard capsules you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist.If diarrhea lasts longer than 2 days or is accompanied by blood or an increase in temperature, a doctor should be consulted.Particular attention should be paid to replacing fluids and salts (electrolytes) in children.If microbiological stool tests are performed during or shortly after treatment, the intake should be reported to the testing laboratory to avoid false-positive results.It is not intended for use in infants under 6 months of age and treatment of diarrhea in infants and young children requires consultation with a doctor.To prevent traveler's diarrhea, the product should not be taken by children under 12 years of age.The ability to drive and use machines is not affected by taking it.

Pregnancy

Taking Perocur 250 mg hard capsules is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
