Perocur 250 mg hard capsules contain the active substance dried yeast from Saccharomyces cerevisiae HANSEN CBS 5926, which is also known as Saccharomyces boulardii. Perocur is used for the treatment of acute diarrhoea, traveller's diarrhoea and tube fed diarrhoea. It contains lactose and should therefore be used with caution in cases of lactose intolerance. The recommended dosage varies according to age and indication. The hard capsules should be taken unchewed with sufficient liquid. The duration of use depends on the symptoms and storage should be protected from heat. Side effects may include flatulence, itching, exanthema, Quincke's oedema, shortness of breath and allergic shock. Perocur 250 mg is available in the commercial form of hard capsules and is manufactured by the company HEXAL . It should only be used after consulting a doctor or pharmacist and should be used with caution, especially in cases of allergy to yeast and lactose. If pregnant or breastfeeding, use should be avoided or discussed with a doctor. No larger quantities than recommended in the package leaflet should be taken and medical advice should be sought in case of side effects or in case of doubt.
