Mykosert® cream stops skin and athlete's foot

Mykosert® is a broadly effective medicine for the treatment of skin and athlete's foot (tinea pedis) as well as other forms of skin fungus, such as ringworm (tinea corporis) or bran fungus (pityriasis versicolor).It has an antifungal effect against the cause of the disease and also relieves the typical symptoms such as itching, burning, blisters and unpleasant odors on the skin.Mykosert® is available as a cream or spray and contains the modern antifungal active ingredient sertaconazole, which has a fungicidal and fungistatic effect.This means that it kills the fungal pathogens in the skin and stops fungal growth so that the skin can regenerate and grow back healthily.

Use of Mykosert® cream for skin and athlete's foot

Depending on the severity of the disease, Mykosert® Cream is applied to the infected skin areas 1 to 2 times a day and distributed with the fingers.Before use, the affected skin areas should be washed thoroughly with warm water and skin-friendly soap and then dried thoroughly.Do not use a towel, but rather paper towels or toilet paper to avoid the risk of infection.The cream is then spread thinly over the affected and surrounding skin areas.

The nourishing cream seals rough skin areas and is ideal for fungal infections with dry skin.The active ingredient is absorbed into the skin immediately after application and remains waterproof for up to 48 hours (depot effect).The use should be continued even after the symptoms first subside and until the disease has completely healed.In general, treatment should last 28 days.

4 common mistakes you should avoid when it comes to skin and athlete's foot

Athlete's foot is contagious and does not heal without treatment.The longer the fungus goes untreated, the greater the risk of spreading to toenails or other areas of the skin.Athlete's foot should therefore be treated early.

1. Symptoms are recognized too late or ignored

Even before the first skin changes can be seen, the fungus usually becomes noticeable through invisible signs.The fungal growth causes tension in the skin, which is noticeable through tingling, itching or a slight burning sensation.Redness, cracks in the skin or blisters in the area between the toes are often confused with corns or pressure points.The quicker you react, the less complicated the treatment is.You can often even smell the fungus: an unpleasant smell can be the first sign of a fungal disease.Because if the skin's immune system is weakened by the fungus, certain bacteria can also multiply more easily.

2. Waiting too long for treatment

Skin and athlete's foot should be treated as early as possible - at the first signs - because the longer the fungus remains untreated, the greater the risk of it spreading to other areas of the skin or toenails.

3. Softened skin is additionally moisturized

Fungal diseases are often accompanied by moist, softened skin - ideal growth conditions for the pathogens.In this case, the skin should not be additionally moistened with a cream, but should be kept dry during the treatment.The hygienic, alcohol-based Mykosert® spray is the right recommendation here.

4. Socks and towels are washed incorrectly

The risk of infection via the washing machine is often underestimated.In families and shared apartments, fungal pathogens often spread through laundry in the washing machine.Linen, towels and bed linen that come into contact with the infected skin areas should be washed separately and at a minimum of 60°C, or with special hygiene detergents.

Mykosert® Cream contains the active ingredient sertaconazole nitrate.1 gram of cream contains 20 milligrams of sertaconazole nitrate.The other ingredients are methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (Ph.Eur.) (E218), sorbic acid (Ph.Eur.) (E200), a mixture of glycerol monoisostearate/glycerol diisostearate, macrogol 1500 (mono, di) stearate, macrogol 6-glycerol (mono, di) alkanoate (C12-C18), thin paraffin andpurified water.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the above ingredients, this product should not be used.

Patient information

There are no known impairments to the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

There is no clinical experience with use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.To avoid contact with the infant, the cream must not be used on the breast area while breastfeeding.
