Anaesthesulf Lotio is a product with a mild local anesthetic effect.It is used in infants, children and adults to relieve itching sensations on the skin, for example in varicella (chickenpox and shingles).The active ingredient is lauromacrogol 400 (Ph. Eur.), also known as polidocanol.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

Anaesthesulf Lotio is used to relieve itching from chickenpox and shingles.It has a local analgesic and itching effect by blocking the nerve pathways that register the pain and itching and transmit it to the brain.This makes the pain and itching less noticeable.In addition, sensitivity to cold, heat and pressure is reduced.

Application and dosage

Shake the bottle well before use.Apply Anaesthesulf Lotio thinly to itchy areas of skin with a cotton ball one to three times a day.The suspension can also be applied over large areas.Before reapplication, the residue can be dabbed off with a damp cloth or rinsed off lightly with lukewarm water.

The duration of application depends on the type and course of the disease.In children, Anaesthesulf Lotio must not be used for longer than 1 week.In adults, Anaesthesulf Lotio should not be used for longer than 1 week without medical advice.If you want to use Anaesthesulf Lotio in adults for more than a week, talk to your doctor first.

Composition

100 g suspension contains 8 g Lauromacrogol 400 (Ph. Eur.).The other ingredients are zinc oxide, talc, titanium dioxide, methyl cellulose, propylene glycol and purified water.Propylene glycol can cause skin irritation.

Contraindications

Anaesthesulf Lotio must not be used if you are allergic to Lauromacrogol 400 or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The medicine must not be used in premature babies in the first weeks of life.If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should speak to your doctor before use.

Side effects

Only side effects that have so far only occurred in exceptional cases are described for Anaesthesulf Lotio.If you notice any discomfort or change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Storage

Keep Anaesthesulf Lotio out of the reach of children.After first opening, do not store above 25°C.After opening, the medicine has a shelf life of 3 months.Never dispose of medicines via wastewater.Ask your pharmacy how to throw away medicine when you no longer use it.
