Vertigo-Vomex SR sustained-release capsules are an anti-dizziness medication from the group of H1 antihistamines.They are used for the symptomatic treatment of elderly patients with dizziness of various origins.If you don't feel better or feel worse after 14 days, contact your doctor.

Vertigo-Vomex SR sustained-release capsules contain the active ingredient dimenhydrinate.One hard capsule, prolonged release, contains 120 mg dimenhydrinate.The other ingredients are talc, sucrose, corn starch, shellac, povidone K30, titanium dioxide, gelatin, quinoline yellow, indigo carmine and erythrosine.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the above ingredients, this product should not be used.

Dosage

The recommended dose for adults weighing over 56 kg is one sustained-release hard capsule in the morning and, if necessary, another hard capsule in the late afternoon (corresponding to 120 mg or 240 mg dimenhydrinate per day).Up to three sustained-release hard capsules (corresponding to 360 mg dimenhydrinate per day) can be taken within 24 hours - if possible at 8 hour intervals.

Vertigo-Vomex SR prolonged-release capsules should be taken whole and with plenty of liquid.Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, they are only intended for short-term use.If symptoms persist, you should consult a doctor.After 2 weeks of treatment at the latest, your doctor should check whether treatment with Vertigo-Vomex SR prolonged-release capsules is still necessary.

Intake

The prolonged-release capsules should be taken whole and with plenty of liquid.There should be an interval of at least 8 hours between two doses.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the product if you have impaired liver function, cardiac arrhythmias, potassium or magnesium deficiency, slow heartbeat, certain heart diseases, simultaneous use of medicines that prolong the QT-interval in the EKG or lead to hypokalemia, chronic breathing problems and asthma, narrowing at the outlet of the stomach.

Children and adolescents: The medicine must not be used in children under 14 years of age.

Drowsiness, memory problems and reduced ability to concentrate can have an adverse effect on the ability to drive or work with machines.This is particularly true after insufficient sleep, when starting treatment and changing medications, and in combination with alcohol.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

Pregnancy: Dimenhydrinate, the active ingredient in the preparation, can trigger premature labor.The safety of use during pregnancy has not been proven.A risk cannot be excluded for dimenhydrinate based on clinical data.You may only take the preparation after consulting your doctor and only if he or she considers it to be absolutely necessary.

Breastfeeding: Dimenhydrinate, the active ingredient of the drug, passes into breast milk.The safety of use during breastfeeding has not been proven.Since undesirable effects, such as increased restlessness, on the breastfed child cannot be ruled out, you should either not use the prolonged-release capsules while breastfeeding or stop breastfeeding during the period of use.

Other

After long-term daily use, sudden cessation of treatment may temporarily cause sleep disorders.Therefore, in these cases, treatment should be stopped by gradually reducing the amount.

As with other drugs of this type, the development of drug dependence cannot be ruled out with long-term treatment.For this reason, a strict benefit-risk assessment should be carried out.

Skin sensitivity to light has been reported after use of the drug, so direct exposure to sunlight should be avoided.
