Vertigo-Vomex® SR sustained-release capsules are an anti-dizziness agent that belongs to the group of H1 antihistamines.It works quickly and safely by depressing the corresponding center in the brain without affecting the neighboring respiratory or circulatory centers.The active ingredient dimenhydrinate in Vertigo-Vomex® SR sustained-release capsules impresses with its good tolerability and long-lasting effect.

Mode of action

Vertigo-Vomex® SR sustained-release capsules have a direct effect on the vestibular system, selectively inhibit the transmission of stimuli from the inner ear to the brain stem, influence the dizziness center in the brain stem and relieve nausea and vomiting in acute attacks of dizziness.When administered orally, the drug has an effect after around 15-30 minutes, which lasts for around 3-6 hours due to the delayed release of the active ingredient.

Vertigo-Vomex® SR sustained-release capsules contain the active ingredient dimenhydrinate.One prolonged-release hard capsule contains 120 mg dimenhydrinate.The other ingredients are talc, sucrose, corn starch, shellac, povidone K 30, titanium dioxide, gelatin, quinoline yellow, indigo carmine and erythrosine.

Area of application

Vertigo-Vomex® SR sustained-release capsules are used for the symptomatic treatment of elderly patients with dizziness of various origins.The product is suitable for adults over 56 kg body weight.If you don't feel better or feel worse after 14 days, contact your doctor.

Dosage

The recommended dose is one sustained-release hard capsule in the morning and, if necessary, another hard capsule in the late afternoon (corresponding to 120 mg or 240 mg dimenhydrinate per day).Up to three sustained-release hard capsules (corresponding to 360 mg dimenhydrinate per day) can be taken within 24 hours - at intervals of 8 hours if possible.The capsules should be taken whole and with plenty of liquid.Vertigo-Vomex® SR sustained-release capsules are only intended for short-term use unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor.

Intake

The prolonged-release capsules should be taken whole and with plenty of liquid.If several are necessary, the income should be distributed at regular intervals throughout the day.There should be an interval of at least 8 hours between two doses.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the product if you have impaired liver function, cardiac arrhythmias, potassium or magnesium deficiency, slow heartbeat, certain heart diseases, simultaneous use of medicines that prolong the QT-interval in the EKG or lead to hypokalemia, chronic breathing problems and asthma, narrowing at the outlet of the stomach.The medicine must not be used in children under 14 years of age.

Drowsiness, memory problems and reduced ability to concentrate can have an adverse effect on the ability to drive or work with machines.This is particularly true after insufficient sleep, when starting treatment and changing medications, and in combination with alcohol.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.Dimenhydrinate, the active ingredient in the preparation, can trigger premature labor.The safety of use during pregnancy has not been proven.A risk cannot be excluded for dimenhydrinate based on clinical data.You may only take the preparation after consulting your doctor and only if he or she considers it to be absolutely necessary.

Dimenhydrinate, the active ingredient of the drug, passes into breast milk.The safety of use during breastfeeding has not been proven.Since undesirable effects, such as increased restlessness, on the breastfed child cannot be ruled out, you should either not use the prolonged-release capsules while breastfeeding or stop breastfeeding during the period of use.

Notes

Vertigo-Vomex® SR extended-release capsules must not be used in children under 14 years of age.The medicine contains sucrose (sugar).Store drug out of reach of children.For information about risks and side effects, read the package leaflet and ask your doctor or pharmacy.

Other

After long-term daily use, sudden cessation of treatment may temporarily cause sleep disorders.Therefore, in these cases, treatment should be stopped by gradually reducing the amount. As with other drugs of this type, the development of drug dependence cannot be ruled out with long-term treatment.For this reason, a strict benefit-risk assessment should be carried out.

Skin sensitivity to light has been reported after use of the drug, so direct exposure to sunlight should be avoided.Drowsiness, memory problems and reduced ability to concentrate can have an adverse effect on the ability to drive or work with machines.This is particularly true after insufficient sleep, when starting treatment and changing medications, and in combination with alcohol.

You should not drink alcohol during treatment as alcohol can change and increase the effects of in an unforeseeable way.This also further impairs the ability to drive and operate machines.The drug may potentially produce false-negative test results in intended hypersensitivity tests.
