Area of application

VomiSaft® is a medicine used to prevent and treat motion sickness in children aged 2 to 12 years.It helps with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and dizziness that can occur when traveling by sea, land or air.The active ingredient dimenhydrinate works against these symptoms.If symptoms do not improve after 7 days or worsen, a doctor should be consulted.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in VomiSaft® is dimenhydrinate with a dosage of 24 mg per 6 ml solution.In addition, the preparation contains the following excipients: 0.45 mg amaranth, 900 mg propylene glycol, saccharin sodium salt, 3900 mg sucrose, purified water, 6 mg methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, 23 mg sodium ions, strawberry flavor and 0.15 mg benzyl alcohol.

Contraindications

VomiSaft® must not be taken if you are allergic to dimenhydrinate, diphenhydramine or any of the other ingredients.Its use is also contraindicated in cases of porphyria, a rare hereditary disease, and asthma crises.

Dosage

VomiSaft® should always be taken exactly as directed.The dosage depends on the age and weight of the child.For children 2 to 3 years old, the recommended dose is 3 to 6 ml, depending on body weight, and can be repeated every 8 hours.Children 4 to 6 years old also receive 3 to 6 ml, but every 6 to 8 hours.Children 7 to 12 years old take 6 to 12 ml, also every 6 to 8 hours.It is important not to exceed the maximum daily dose in order to avoid an overdose, which can be life-threatening, especially in children under 3 years of age.

Intake

VomiSaft® is taken orally.It is recommended to take the medicine at least half an hour before traveling to take effect.If symptoms occur, the first dose can also be taken.To avoid irritation of the stomach lining, the medicine should be taken with food, water or milk.If symptoms persist, the next dose should be at least 6 hours later.

Patient information

Before taking VomiSaft®, patients with certain previous illnesses such as asthma, severe respiratory diseases, hyperthyroidism, glaucoma, enlarged prostate, high blood pressure or diseases that can lead to blockages of the urinary or gastrointestinal tract should consult their doctor.Medical advice is also required if you have liver or kidney disease, stomach or duodenal ulcers or gastritis.Elderly patients over 65 years of age may experience side effects such as dry mouth, urinary retention, nausea, sedation, confusion, and hypotension.While taking it, you should avoid alcohol and stay in the sun.No prescription is required for this product.

Pregnancy

Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor or pharmacist before taking VomiSaft®.The medicine is intended exclusively for use in children.Taking any medication during pregnancy should always be supervised by a doctor.

VomiSaft® - Safe and individually dosed for motion sickness

VomiSaft® is suitable for the prophylaxis and symptomatic treatment of motion sickness and other symptoms of motion sickness such as:B. Vomiting and/or dizziness, in children aged 2 to 12 years.The small-volume individual bottles (6 ml = 24 mg dimenhydrinate) can be dosed particularly safely and individually according to age or weight using the scaled measuring caps and are practical for on the go.For prevention, VomiSaft® should be taken at least 30 minutes before traveling.The antiemetic effect occurs after just 15 to 30 minutes and then lasts up to 6 hours.

Application

Children 2-3 years old (depending on the child's body weight): 12-24 mg dimenhydrinate (3-6 ml).If necessary, repeat the dose every 8 hours.Overdose with dimenhydrinate can be life-threatening, especially in children under 3 years of age, and must therefore be avoided at all costs, especially in this age group.No more than 5 mg/kg body weight/24 hours may be given.Children 4-6 years: 12-24 mg dimenhydrinate (3-6 ml).If necessary, repeat the dose every 6-8 hours. A total dose of 72 mg dimenhydrinate (18 ml) in 24 hours must under no circumstances be exceeded.Children 7-12 years: 24-48 mg dimenhydrinate (6-12 ml).If necessary, repeat the dose every 6-8 hours.Under no circumstances should a total dose of 144 mg dimenhydrinate (36 ml) in 24 hours be exceeded.
