Instructions for use for Mykohaug C (50 g)
Area of application
Mykohaug C is a medicine that is used to treat fungal diseases of the skin and mucous membranes. These fungal diseases can be caused by various pathogens such as dermatophytes, yeasts, molds and others, for example Malassezia furfur, as well as Corynebacterium minutissimum.
The fungal diseases can occur in various forms, for example as athlete's foot between the toes and fingers, on the nail fold (paronychia) and in connection with nail mycoses.Skin diseases that are additionally infected with Canesten-sensitive pathogens (superinfection) can also be treated. The medicine is also suitable for the treatment of mycoses of the skin and skin folds, superficial candidiasis, pityriasis versicolor (brain fungus), infections with Corynebacterium minutissimum (erythrasma) and seborrheic dermatitis with microbial involvement.
Mykohaug C can also be used for infections of the labia and adjacent areas caused by yeast fungi (Candida vulvitis), as well as for inflammation of the glans and foreskin in men caused by yeast fungi (Candida balanitis).
The active ingredient clotrimazole in the cream penetrates the affected skin layers and fights the fungus there, which leads to the death or inhibition of growth of the fungus.
Mode of action
Clotrimazole, the active ingredient in Mykohaug C, inhibits the growth and reproduction of fungal cells, including budding fungi (yeasts) and a number of other fungi and some bacteria.
Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients
Mykohaug C contains the following active ingredients and excipients:
Active ingredient: clotrimazole.1 g of cream contains 10 mg of clotrimazole.
Other ingredients: benzyl alcohol, cetyl palmitate (Ph.Eur.), Cetylstearyl alcohol (Ph.Eur.), thick paraffin, polysorbate 60, sorbitan stearate, purified water.
Contraindications
The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to clotrimazole or any of the other ingredients.
Dosage
Always use Mykohaug C exactly as directed.Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, apply the cream thinly to the affected skin areas 1-3 times a day and rub it in lightly.A strand of ointment approximately ½ cm long is usually sufficient for an area about the size of a palm.
Before each use, the affected skin areas should be washed to remove loose skin cells and then dried thoroughly.
In the case of infections of the labia (Candida vulvitis) and adjacent areas of the woman, the cream should be applied 1-3 times a day to the relevant skin areas (external genitals up to the anus). The cream is also suitable for the simultaneous treatment of inflammation of the partner's glans and foreskin (Candida balanitis) caused by yeast fungi.
The duration of treatment depends on the extent and location of the disease. In order to achieve complete healing, the treatment should not be stopped after the symptoms have subsided, but should be continued consistently for a duration of at least 4 weeks.Pityriasis versicolor generally heals in 1-3 weeks and erythrasma in 2-4 weeks. In the case of athlete's foot, treatment should be continued for approximately 2 weeks after all signs of the disease have disappeared, in order to prevent relapses.Candida vulvitis and Candida balanitis heal in 1-2 weeks.
Intake
Mykohaug C is not intended to be taken orally and is only suitable for external use.
Patient information
Change towels, underwear and stockings that come into contact with the affected area of skin every day. This simple measure supports healing and prevents transmission to other parts of the body and people.
If used at the same time as latex products (e.g. condoms, diaphragms), the functionality of these products may be reduced due to the excipients they contain and thus the safety of these products may be impaired.
Pregnancy
If you use the cream as described in the dosage instructions or as recommended by your doctor or pharmacist, the active ingredient clotrimazole will only be absorbed into the body in very small quantities;A systemic effect (effect on other organs) is therefore not to be expected. For reasons of caution, clotrimazole may only be used during pregnancy when used in the vagina after an appropriate benefit/risk assessment by the treating doctor.
Because of the low absorption when applied to the skin or mucous membranes, there is probably no risk associated with breastfeeding for the infant.During breastfeeding, the cream should not be used directly on the milk-producing breast.
Notes
Do not get the medicine into your eyes.Keep the medicine out of the reach of small children. No prescription is required for this product.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton/tube.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month. The cream has a shelf life of 1 year after opening.
