Instructions for use for BETAISODONA Solution, 3X1000 ml
Product features
Betaisodona solution is a germicidal agent (antiseptic) for use on skin, mucous membranes and wounds. The active ingredient is povidone-iodine, which contains 100 milligrams in each milliliter of the solution, of which 11 milligrams are available as available iodine. The other ingredients include glycerol, nonoxinol 9, disodium hydrogen phosphate, anhydrous citric acid, sodium hydroxide, potassium iodate and purified water.
Areas of application
Betaisodona solution is used once to disinfect the intact outer skin or antiseptic of the mucous membrane, for example before operations, biopsies, injections, punctures, blood samples and bladder catheterizations. In addition, the solution is used repeatedly and for a limited time for antiseptic wound treatment for pressure ulcers, lower leg ulcers, burns, infected and superinfected skin diseases, as well as for surgical hand disinfection.
Application
Always use Betaisodona solution exactly according to the package leaflet or the instructions of your doctor or pharmacist. The solution can be used once or several times a day, although the frequency and duration of use depends on the area of application.
The solution is used undiluted for skin disinfection or mucous membrane antisepsis. The exposure time for skin with few sebaceous glands is at least one minute before injections, punctures and blood samples and at least three minutes before surgical procedures. For skin rich in sebaceous glands, the exposure time should be at least ten minutes. The skin must be kept moist throughout the entire exposure time.
For surgical hand disinfection, the exposure time is five minutes, during which time the hands must be kept moist. The solution is also applied undiluted for antiseptic wound treatment and surface therapy of burn wounds.
The solution is recommended in dilutions of 1:2 to 1:20 for rinsing as part of wound treatment and to prevent inflammation before, during and after operations. For antiseptic washes the recommended dilution is 1:2 to 1:25, for partial baths about 1:25 and for full baths about 1:100.
The solution should be applied to the area to be treated until it is completely wetted. The antiseptic film that forms when it dries can be easily washed off with water. The brown color of the solution indicates its effectiveness.Increasing discoloration indicates a decrease in effectiveness. If the color is completely discolored, it is no longer effective.
Storage
Keep Betaisodona solution out of the reach of children and do not store the medicine above 25 °C.After first opening, you can use the solution until the expiry date stated on the packaging.Never dispose of the medicine via wastewater.Ask your pharmacy how to throw away medicine if you no longer use it.
