Product features
Betaisodona solution is a germicidal agent intended for use on skin, mucous membranes and wounds. It contains the active ingredient povidone-iodine and is used in various situations. On the one hand, for one-off disinfection of the intact outer skin or antiseptic of the mucous membrane, for example before operations, biopsies, injections, punctures, blood samples and bladder catheterizations. On the other hand, for repeated, time-limited antiseptic wound treatment for pressure sores, lower leg ulcers, burns, infected and superinfected skin diseases as well as for surgical hand disinfection.
Areas of application
Betaisodona solution is used to disinfect the skin and mucous membranes before various medical procedures. It is also suitable for the antiseptic treatment of wounds, burns and infected skin diseases. It can also be used for surgical hand disinfection.
Dosage and instructions for use
Betaisodona solution can be used once or several times a day.The frequency and duration of application depends on the respective area of application. The solution is intended for external use undiluted and in dilutions.Normal tap water or, if approximate isotonicity is desired, physiological saline or Ringer's solution is suitable for dilution. The dilutions should always be made fresh and used quickly.
The solution is used undiluted for skin disinfection or mucous membrane antisepsis. The exposure time is at least 1 minute to 10 minutes, depending on skin type and intended use.For surgical hand disinfection, the exposure time is 5 minutes. For antiseptic wound treatment and surface therapy of burn wounds, the solution is usually applied undiluted.
The solution can be diluted for antiseptic rinses, washes and baths.Recommended dilutions are 1:2 to 1:20 for rinses, 1:2 to 1:25 for washes, approximately 1:25 for partial baths and approximately 1:100 for full baths. The solution should be applied to the area to be treated until completely wetted. The antiseptic film that forms can be easily washed off with water.
The brown color of the solution indicates its effectiveness.Increasing discoloration indicates a decrease in effectiveness. If the color is completely discolored, it is no longer effective. To create antiseptic full baths, water should first be poured into the tub and then the required amount of Betaisodona solution to avoid discoloration of the tub.
