Instructions for use for BIOFANAL Suspension gel tube, 50 g
Area of application
Biofanal suspension gel is a treatment for yeast infections of the oral cavity, also known as oral thrush. It has a specific effect against yeast fungi and is used for nystatin-sensitive infections in the oral cavity.
Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients
The active ingredient in Biofanal suspension gel is nystatin with a concentration of 100,000 IU per gram. In addition, the gel contains the following excipients: methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (E216), glycerol 85%, sucrose (470 mg per gram), hyetellose, purified water and flavorings. It also contains parabens and sugar.
Contraindications
Biofanal suspension gel must not be used if you are allergic to nystatin, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.
Dosage
Always use Biofanal suspension gel exactly as described or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist. The usual dose is 1 gram of gel (equivalent to 1 measuring spoon) 3 to 6 times a day, in severe cases every 2 hours. For infants, it makes sense to put 0.5 to 1 gram into the oral cavity before and after a meal.Treatment should be continued for at least 2 days after the symptoms have subsided, but not longer than 28 days.
If you use more than you should, no symptoms are expected. If you forget to use it, do not use a double dose.Continue treatment at the next prescribed time.Do not stop taking it without consulting your doctor.
Intake
The gel is left in the mouth for a few minutes, gently moved back and forth and then swallowed. In addition, the affected areas can be smeared with a cotton swab onto which the gel has previously been applied. In infants, the gel should remain in the mouth for as long as possible to optimize the effect.
Patient information
Due to the high osmolarity of nystatin, its use in very underweight and immature premature infants is not recommended. No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive or use machines.
Pregnancy
When given orally in normal doses, nystatin is not absorbed, does not cross the placental barrier and is not expected to be present in breast milk. Therefore, Biofanal suspension gel can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Notes
No prescription is required for this product.Read the package leaflet and ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any further questions.
Other
If the treatment is not successful, the doctor should carry out an examination to confirm a fungal infection or to check the treatment. When treating fungal infections, all fungal foci on the skin and mucous membranes must be treated to avoid relapses.
