Instructions for use for Lactulose ratiopharm syrup, 1000 ml
Gentle and well-tolerated support for constipation
Lactulose-ratiopharm® syrup offers gentle help with constipation.Digestive problems such as constipation make it difficult to empty the bowels and are often accompanied by a feeling of fullness, abdominal pain and pain during bowel movements.Possible triggers include a low-fiber diet, an unfamiliar environment, stress or hormonal changes, for example during menopause or pregnancy. The active ingredient lactulose binds water in the intestines, softens the stool and makes it easier to empty the intestines. This allows the constipation to be gently resolved and the accompanying symptoms subside, which improves general well-being.
Lactulose-ratiopharm® syrup is characterized by good tolerability because the active ingredient lactulose is not absorbed by the body. This means there is only a low risk of interactions. The syrup is suitable for use in acute complaints. It should only be taken over a longer period of time after consulting a doctor. It is suitable for adults, adolescents and children, although children under 14 years of age should be given it in consultation with a doctor. The syrup can also be taken during pregnancy. The included dosing cup makes the syrup easy to dose and easy to take, especially for people with swallowing difficulties.

Other
The laxative effect can occur after 2-10 hours; if the amounts are insufficient, it can take 24-48 hours until the first bowel movement. While taking the medication, care should be taken to eat a diet rich in fiber, as this supports the laxative effect.Raw vegetable salads and whole grain products are particularly suitable.Consuming large amounts of fresh yogurt promotes the important colonization of the colon with bifidus bacteria. Make sure you drink enough fluids (at least 2 liters daily). For diabetics, the synthesis-related content of lactulose in digestible carbohydrates must be taken into account (100 ml contains a maximum of 17g = 1.4 BE).
