Nystatin acis® film-coated tablets

Nystatin acis® film-coated tablets are a treatment for yeast infections in the gastrointestinal tract.These infections can be promoted by taking certain medications such as antibiotics, cytostatics or corticosteroids.Typical symptoms of such a fungal infection are flatulence, changing stool quality and frequent diarrhea, which can alternate with constipation.

Due to its molecular size, nystatin is hardly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.Therefore, it acts locally in the intestines and not systemically throughout the body.The film-coated tablets are particularly suitable for adults and children aged 6 and over who prefer a simple and practical dosage form, even when on the go.

Mode of action

Nystatin has a specific fungicidal or fungistatic effect against Candida albicans infections and related yeast species.This means it kills fungi or inhibits their growth and reproduction.

Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients

One film-coated tablet contains 500,000 IU of nystatin as the active ingredient.The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, cellulose powder, carboxymethyl starch sodium (type A), povidone K25, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, basic butyl methacrylate copolymer, sodium dodecyl sulfate, carmellose sodium, stearic acid, titanium dioxide (E171), talc, Ponceau 4R aluminum salt (E124) and azorubine aluminum salt(E122).

Area of application

Nystatin acis® film-coated tablets are used for the topical treatment of proven yeast infections of the gastrointestinal tract, especially if these were caused by the intake of antibiotics, cytostatics or corticosteroids.

Dosage

The usual dosage is one film-coated tablet three times a day, unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor.The film-coated tablets should be swallowed whole with a little liquid after meals.The duration of treatment is usually two weeks or as long as the medications that promote yeast growth are taken.

Intake

Take the film-coated tablets whole after meals with a little liquid.

Contraindications

Nystatin acis® film-coated tablets should not be taken if there is hypersensitivity to the active ingredient nystatin, a related active ingredient such as amphotericin B or natamycin, or any of the other ingredients.

Patient information

Use in children under 6 years is not recommended.Suitable dosage forms for younger children are semi-liquid suspensions.The film-coated tablets have no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
