Cetirizin beta® film-coated tablets are a non-prescription medicine from the group of anti-allergics.It can be used in adults and children from the age of 6 to relieve symptoms of allergic diseases.These include chronic hives with symptoms such as itching, hives and redness of the skin, atopic dermatitis with redness of the skin, chronic allergic rhinitis, hay fever with symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy nose, nasal congestion, redness or itching of the eyes as well as tearing and asthmatic conditions caused by allergies.Cetirizine beta® helps to suppress these symptoms.

Mode of action

Cetirizin beta® film-coated tablets contain the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride, which has anti-allergic, antihistamine and anti-inflammatory effects.The active ingredient blocks the H1 receptors, preventing histamine release and the effects of histamine.

Cetirizin beta® film-coated tablets contain the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride.One film-coated tablet contains 10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride.The other ingredients include lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate (vegetable), macrogol 4000 and titanium dioxide (E 171).

Area of application

Cetirizin beta® film-coated tablets can be used to relieve nasal and eye symptoms in seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and to relieve hives (urticaria).

Dosage

Cetirizine beta® film-coated tablets should always be taken exactly as described or after consultation with a doctor or pharmacist.Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age take 1 film-coated tablet (10 mg) once daily.Children between 6 and 12 years take half a film-coated tablet (5 mg) twice a day.Patients with moderate kidney failure are recommended to take 5 mg once daily.In case of severe kidney disease, the dose should be adjusted accordingly and a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted.

Intake

The film-coated tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of liquid, preferably water.

Before taking Cetirizine beta® film-coated tablets, you should speak to a doctor or pharmacist, especially if you have impaired kidney function, difficulty urinating, epilepsy or a risk of seizures.Concomitant consumption of alcohol should be avoided.If an allergy test is scheduled, you should stop taking the medication a few days beforehand as it could affect the test result.

In clinical studies, cetirizine at the recommended dose did not produce any signs of impaired attention, alertness or driving ability.However, after taking the medicine, reactions should be carefully monitored, especially if activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machines are planned.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.Taking the drug should be avoided by pregnant women.Cetirizine passes into breast milk, so it should not be taken during breast-feeding until you consult your doctor.

Notes

Cetirizin beta® film-coated tablets are not suitable for children under 6 years.If symptoms do not improve or worsen after 3 days, a doctor should be consulted.The medicine should be kept out of the reach of children.Cetirizin beta® contains lactose, so the medicine should only be taken after consulting a doctor if you are known to be intolerance to certain sugars.
