Area of application

Cetirizine beta is an antiallergic drug used to relieve nasal and eye symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and to relieve hives (urticaria).It can be used in adults and children from 6 years of age.No prescription is required for this product.

Mode of action

The active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride has anti-allergic, antihistamine and anti-inflammatory effects.It blocks the H1 receptor, preventing histamine release and reducing the effects of histamine.This helps relieve allergy symptoms such as itching, hives, and redness.

Cetirizine beta contains the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride.One film-coated tablet contains 10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride.The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate (vegetable), macrogol 4000 and titanium dioxide (E 171).

Contraindications

Cetirizine beta must not be taken if you have severe kidney disease or are allergic to cetirizine dihydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.Children under 6 years of age should generally not use the medicine.

Dosage

The recommended dose for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age is 10 mg once daily as one film-coated tablet.Children between 6 and 12 years of age should take 5 mg twice daily as half a film-coated tablet twice daily.Patients with kidney failure should adjust the dose accordingly, although consultation with their doctor or pharmacist is recommended.

Intake

The film-coated tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of liquid, preferably water.It can be taken regardless of meals.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine, especially if you suffer from impaired kidney function, have difficulty urinating or have epilepsy.It is recommended to avoid taking the drug and alcohol at the same time.If an allergy test is to be carried out, please ask your doctor whether you should stop taking the medicine for a few days before the test.
