Areas of application
Cetirizine beta is an antiallergic drug used to relieve nasal and eye symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and to relieve hives (urticaria).It can be used in adults and children from 6 years of age.The areas of application also include allergic rhinitis such as hay fever, hives, itching in neurodermatitis and supportive treatment in allergic asthma.
Mode of action
The active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride has anti-allergic, antihistamine and anti-inflammatory effects.It blocks the H1 receptor, preventing histamine release and reducing the effects of histamine.Cetirizine beta helps with allergies and relieves itching by suppressing the effects of the body's own substances histamine and prostaglandins.
Active ingredients and ingredients
Cetirizine beta contains the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride.One film-coated tablet contains 10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride.The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate (vegetable), macrogol 4000 and titanium dioxide (E 171).
Dosage and application
Cetirizine beta should always be taken exactly as described or after consultation with your doctor or pharmacist.The recommended dose for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age is 10 mg once daily as one film-coated tablet.Children between 6 and 12 years of age should take 5 mg twice daily as half a film-coated tablet twice daily.An adjusted dosage is recommended for patients with kidney failure.The film-coated tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of liquid, preferably water.
Contraindications
Cetirizine beta must not be taken if you have severe kidney disease or are allergic to cetirizine dihydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.Children under 6 years of age should generally not use the medicine.Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor or pharmacist before taking it.
Side effects
Possible side effects of cetirizine beta can include gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, diarrhea and abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, tiredness, sleepiness, restlessness, sore throat, dry mouth, runny nose, discomfort, skin hypersensitivity reactions such as itching and rash, malaise and general weakness.If you feel unwell or change during treatment, you should contact your doctor or pharmacist.
