What is cetirizine beta and what is it used for?

Cetirizine beta is an anti-allergic drug that contains the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride.It is used to relieve nasal and eye symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, as well as to relieve hives (urticaria).Cetirizine beta is suitable for adults and children aged 6 years and over.

How is cetirizine beta used?

Cetirizine beta should always be taken exactly as described in the package leaflet or after consultation with a doctor or pharmacist.The recommended dose is:

Adults and adolescents over 12 years: 10 mg once daily as 1 tablet.

Children between 6 and 12 years: 5 mg twice daily as half a tablet twice daily.

Patients with kidney failure: Patients with moderate kidney failure are recommended to take 5 mg once daily.Patients with severe kidney failure are recommended to take 5 mg once every 2 days.If you have severe kidney disease, the dose should be adjusted accordingly by your doctor or pharmacist.

The duration of use depends on the type, duration and course of the symptoms.Please ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

How should Cetirizine beta be stored?

Cetirizine beta should be kept out of the reach and reach of children.The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the blister pack or carton.This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.

Do not throw away medicines via wastewater or household waste.Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicine when you no longer use it.In doing so, you contribute to protecting the environment.

What cetirizine beta contains

The active ingredient is cetirizine dihydrochloride.1 film-coated tablet contains 10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride.

The other ingredients are: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, highly dispersed silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate (Ph. Eur.) [pflanzlich], macrogol 4000, titanium dioxide (E 171).

Areas of application

Cetirizine beta is used to treat signs of allergic diseases, such as chronic hives with symptoms such as itching, hives and redness of the skin, chronic allergic rhinitis, itching in chronic hives and atopic dermatitis (neurodermatitis) with symptoms such as redness of the skin, hay fever with symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy nose, nasal congestion, redness or itching of the eyes and tearing andasthmatic conditions of allergic origin as a supportive measure to suppress corresponding symptoms.

Dosage and instructions for use

Children 6-12 years old should take half a tablet twice daily, regardless of meal.Adolescents aged 12 and over and adults should take one tablet once a day, also regardless of food.The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

Take the medicine with liquid, such as a glass of water.The duration of use depends on the type of symptoms and/or the course of the disease.If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

An overdose may cause diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness and increased heart rate.If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor immediately.

If you forget to take it, continue taking it as normal at the next prescribed time, i.e. not with a double dose.

No prescription is required for this product.

Contraindications

Cetirizine beta must not be taken if you have severe kidney disease or are allergic to cetirizine dihydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, to hydroxyzine or other piperazine derivatives.Children under 6 years of age should generally not use the medicine.

Pregnant and breastfeeding women should ask their doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Side effects

Possible side effects may include gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, diarrhea and abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, tiredness, sleepiness, restlessness, sore throat, dry mouth, runny nose, discomfort, skin hypersensitivity reactions such as itching and rash, malaise and general weakness.If you notice any discomfort or change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Mode of action

The active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride helps with allergies and relieves itching. It suppresses the effects of the body's own substances histamine and prostaglandins by inhibiting the release of these substances from the mast cells and displacing them from their binding sites.Histamine and prostaglandins play an important role in the development of inflammation and allergic reactions.

Important notes

Caution is advised if you are intolerance to lactose.If you have to follow a diabetes diet, you should consider the sugar content.
