Cetirizin beta® film-coated tablets is a medicine that belongs to the group of anti-allergics.It is suitable for the treatment of symptoms of allergic diseases such as chronic hives (urticaria) with symptoms such as itching, hives and redness of the skin, atopic dermatitis (neurodermatitis) with redness of the skin, chronic allergic rhinitis, hay fever with symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy nose, nasal congestion, redness or itching of the eyes as well as tearing and asthmatic conditions caused by allergies.Cetirizine beta® helps to suppress these symptoms.

Area of application

Cetirizin beta® film-coated tablets can be used in adults and children from the age of 6 to relieve nasal and eye symptoms in seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and to relieve hives (urticaria).

Mode of action

The active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride in Cetirizine beta® film-coated tablets has anti-allergic, antihistamine and anti-inflammatory effects.It blocks the H1 receptor, preventing histamine release and the effects of histamine.

Cetirizin beta® film-coated tablets contains the active ingredient cetirizine dihydrochloride.One film-coated tablet contains 10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride.The other ingredients include lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate (vegetable), macrogol 4000 and titanium dioxide (E 171).

Contraindications

Cetirizine beta® film-coated tablets must not be taken if you have severe kidney disease in which kidney function is severely restricted, or if you are allergic to cetirizine dihydrochloride, any of the other ingredients of the drug, to hydroxyzine or other piperazine derivatives.

Dosage

Cetirizine beta® film-coated tablets should always be taken exactly as described or after consultation with your doctor or pharmacist.Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age take one film-coated tablet once a day.Children between 6 and 12 years take half a film-coated tablet twice a day.Patients with moderate kidney failure are recommended to take 5 mg once daily.If you have severe kidney disease, the dose should be adjusted accordingly by your doctor or pharmacist.

Intake

The film-coated tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of liquid, preferably water.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine.If you have impaired kidney function you should consult your doctor as a lower dose may be required.The same applies if you have difficulty urinating, have epilepsy or are at risk of seizures.It is recommended to avoid taking the drug and alcohol at the same time.If you are going to have an allergy test, please ask your doctor if you should stop taking the medicine for a few days before the test.

In clinical studies, cetirizine at the recommended dose did not produce any signs of impaired attention, alertness or driving ability.However, after taking the medicine, you should carefully monitor your reaction when driving, carrying out work without secure support or operating machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.Taking the drug should be avoided by pregnant women.Cetirizine passes into breast milk, so you should not take it if you are breast-feeding until you have consulted your doctor.

Notes

Cetirizin beta® film-coated tablets is not suitable for children under 6 years.If you don't feel better after 3 days or even feel worse, contact your doctor.Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.Cetirizin beta® contains lactose.Please only take Cetirizine beta® after consulting your doctor if you know that you have an intolerance to certain sugars.
