Imodium akut Duo 2 mg/125 mg tablets are used for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhoea in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over when abdominal cramps, a distended abdomen and flatulence also occur. The tablets contain two active ingredients: loperamide hydrochloride reduces diarrhoea by slowing down increased intestinal activity and increasing the absorption of water and salts from the intestines. Simeticon breaks up the gas bubbles that cause cramps and bloating in the intestines. The recommended dose for young people aged 12-18 years is 1 tablet as a first dose and 1 tablet as a repeat dose, with a maximum daily dose of 4 tablets. For adults over 18 years of age, the first dose is 2 tablets and the repeat dose is 1 tablet, also with a maximum daily dose of 4 tablets. The tablets should be taken unchewed with a glass of water and should not be taken for more than 2 days without medical advice. Children under 12 years of age should not take the medicine. An overdose may cause symptoms such as increased heart rate, muscle stiffness, drowsiness, weak breathing and stomach pain. In the event of an overdose, you should consult a doctor immediately.
