Amorolfin Dexcel 50 mg/ml nail varnish containing the active substance is used to treat fungal infections of the nails (onychomycosis) without involving the nail root. The nail varnish contains the active substance amorolfine, which fights various fungi that can cause fungal nail infections. It is applied once a week to the affected fingernails or toenails until the nails have grown out completely healthy. Before application, the diseased parts of the nail should be filed off and the nail surface cleaned with an alcohol swab. The nail varnish is applied evenly to the entire surface of the diseased nail and left to dry for about 10 minutes. The duration of treatment is usually 6 months for fingernails and 9-12 months for toenails. Side effects may include rare nail changes, mild burning around the treated nail and allergic reactions. In case of allergic reactions, medical advice should be sought immediately. The nail varnish should be kept away from children and should not be used after the expiry date.
