IbuDex 400 mg is a pain reliever and anti-inflammatory agent that is available in pharmacies without a prescription.It contains the active ingredient ibuprofen and is available in packs of 10, 20 and 50 film-coated tablets.The drug is used for the symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain such as headaches, toothaches and period pains as well as to reduce fever.

Mode of action

IbuDex 400 mg has an analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effect.The active ingredient ibuprofen inhibits the formation of prostaglandins, which are involved in the development of pain, inflammation and fever.In this way, the remedy alleviates the symptoms.

One film-coated tablet of IbuDex 400 mg contains 400 mg of ibuprofen as the active ingredient.The preparation also contains the following ingredients: corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate (vegetable), stearic acid (vegetable), croscarmellose sodium, hypromellose, macrogol 400, carmellose sodium, colloidal silicon dioxide, talc, titanium dioxide (E171) and traces of carnauba wax.

Application

The film-coated tablets of IbuDex 400 mg should be taken whole and with plenty of liquid, for example a glass of water.It can be taken before or after a meal.If you have a sensitive stomach, it is recommended to take it with a meal.The film-coated tablets are capsule-shaped and have a notch on both sides so that they can be divided if swallowing is difficult.

Dosage

Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over as well as children weighing over 40 kg can take one film-coated tablet (400 mg ibuprofen) if necessary.The maximum daily dose is 3 film-coated tablets.There should be at least 6 hours between doses.The duration of use should not be longer than 4 days for adults and 3 days for children and adolescents without medical advice.

Side effects

Gastrointestinal complaints such as heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, flatulence, constipation, abdominal pain, tarry stools and hematemesis can often occur.Occasionally, gastrointestinal ulcers with bleeding and perforations, hypersensitivity reactions with skin rashes, itchy skin and asthma attacks, headaches, dizziness, insomnia, agitation, fatigue and visual disturbances may occur.Ringing in the ears can rarely occur.Very rarely, inflammation of the pancreas and esophagus, kidney dysfunction with water retention in the tissue, skin reactions with redness and blistering, worsening of infection-related inflammation, meningitis, liver dysfunction, psychotic reactions, blood formation disorders and heart muscle weakness can occur.

Interactions

Tell your doctor or pharmacist what other medicines you are currently taking or have recently taken.Caution is advised when taking anticoagulant and antihypertensive medications at the same time.The effect of diuretic medicines can be reduced.Taking antidepressants at the same time may increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding.

Contraindications

IbuDex 400 mg must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to the active ingredient ibuprofen or one of the other ingredients, if you have asthma attacks, if you have nasal mucosal or skin reactions after taking acetylsalicylic acid and similar anti-inflammatory drugs in the past, if you have unclear blood formation disorders, if you have existing or previously occurred ulcers and/or bleeding of the gastrointestinal tract, if you have cerebral hemorrhages or other existing bleeding, if you have liver and...Kidney dysfunction, with heart muscle weakness, in the last third of pregnancy and in children and adolescents weighing less than 40 kg (under 12 years).

Patient information

Particular caution is required when taking it in older patients, as side effects occur more frequently in this age group.Taking IbuDex 400 mg may mask signs of infection.Therefore, the medicine should only be taken during an infection after consulting a doctor.The medicine should not be stored above 25 degrees Celsius and should not be used after the expiry date.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If pregnancy is discovered during use, the doctor must be informed.The medicine must not be used in the last trimester of pregnancy due to an increased risk of complications for mother and child.The active ingredient ibuprofen and its breakdown products only pass into breast milk in small quantities. Since there are no known adverse consequences for the infant, it is generally not necessary to interrupt breastfeeding if used for a short period of time.

Application

Adults (from 40 kg/KG): Single dose: 1 tablet (400 mg ibuprofen).Total daily dose: 3 tablets (1200 mg ibuprofen).Adolescents and children from 12 years of age and over 40 kg body weight: The medicine is dosed in children and adolescents from 12 years of age depending on body weight or age, usually with 7 to 10 mg/kg KG as a single dose, up to a maximum of 30 mg/kg KG as a total daily dose.Single dose: 1 tablet (400 mg ibuprofen).Total daily dose: 3 tablets (1200 mg ibuprofen).
