Mepilex Border Post-Op is a self-adhesive dressing specifically designed to effectively absorb blood exudate and reduce the risk of maceration.The bandage has a waterproof outer layer that reliably protects the wound from dirt and bacteria.A special feature is the Safetac wound contact layer, an innovative adhesive technology that minimizes patient pain and trauma to the wound and surrounding skin when removing the dressing.

Scope of application

Mepilex Border Post-Op can also be used by laypeople under the supervision of a medical professional.No prescription is required for this product.

Application

Clean the wound and surrounding skin according to clinical practice.Dry the skin surrounding the wound carefully.The Mepilex Border Post-Op wound dressing should overlap the dry skin surrounding the wound by at least 1 - 2 cm in order to protect the skin surrounding the wound from maceration and to securely fix the dressing.

For bandages with a protective film, remove the protective film partially or completely.For bandages with two protective films, partially or completely remove the small protective film and then partially or completely remove the larger protective film.Place the adhesive side on the wound to allow initial fixation of the dressing.If necessary, carefully remove any remaining protective film(s) while smoothing the bandage with your other hand to avoid wrinkles.Do not stretch the bandage when applying it.

Grab the appliqué frame and tear open the perforation.Carefully remove the application frame.Be careful not to form wrinkles as you secure the edges by smoothing the bandage with your other hand.

Mepilex Border Post-Op can remain on the wound for up to 14 days depending on the condition of the wound and surrounding skin or according to clinical practice.Disposal must be carried out in accordance with local environmental regulations.

Precautions

If you observe signs of infection, such as fever or if the wound or skin surrounding the wound becomes red, warm or swollen, contact a healthcare professional for appropriate treatment.

Always consult a healthcare professional before using Mepilex Border Post-Op on patients with Epidermolysis Bullosa.

Do not use Mepilex Border Post-Op in patients and/or users with known hypersensitivity to the materials/components of the product.

Do not reuse.If reused, product performance may deteriorate and contamination transfer may occur.

Sterile.Do not use if the sterile barrier is damaged or opened before use.Do not re-sterilize.
