Active ingredients and ingredients

Nicotin Beta Mint chewing gums are sugar-free and available in two strengths, 2 mg and 4 mg.

The active ingredient in both variants is nicotine.One chewing gum contains either 2 mg or 4 mg of nicotine in the form of nicotine resinate (carboxyl cation exchange resin).

The other ingredients are: chewing gum base (contains butylated hydroxytoluene, xylitol, silicon dioxide hydrate, magnesium stearate, mint flavor, cooling flavor, sodium carbonate, hypromellose, sodium bicarbonate, levomenthol, titanium dioxide, macrogol 6000, glycerol, acesulfame potassium, talc, sucralose and xanthan gum).The 4 mg chewing gum also contains iron (III) hydroxide oxide x H2O.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients mentioned, this product should not be used.

Dosage

The strength of the gum should be chosen based on your nicotine dependence.If you smoke more than 20 cigarettes per day or if you have previously had no success with Nicotin Beta Mint 2 mg, you should choose the 4 mg variant.In other cases 2 mg is sufficient.

Nicotin Beta Mint chewing gum should be used if you would normally smoke cigarettes or if you feel the urge to smoke.At the start of treatment, 1 chewing gum can be used every 1 to 2 hours.The dosage is individual and depends on your nicotine dependence.In most cases, 8 to 12 pieces of chewing gum per day are sufficient.

The maximum daily dose for Nicotin Beta Mint is 2 mg 24 chewing gums (corresponding to 48 mg nicotine) and for Nicotin Beta Mint 4 mg 16 chewing gums (corresponding to 64 mg nicotine).

The treatment time depends on the individual and should normally last at least 3 months.The nicotine dose is then gradually reduced.Treatment should be stopped when the dose has been reduced to 1 to 2 chewing gums per day.Regular use for more than 6 months is usually not recommended.

Chewing technique

Proper chewing technique is important.Chew Nicotin Beta Mint slowly, with breaks, otherwise you risk getting heartburn and hiccups.

Chew until the taste becomes strong or there is a slight burning sensation, then stop chewing.Let the gum rest between your cheek and gums until the taste and burning sensation stops.Then continue chewing slowly until the taste becomes strong again or you feel a slight burning sensation.Repeat the chewing process for about 30 minutes.

The nicotine effects only appear after a few minutes.The same quick relief as smoking cannot therefore be expected.

Please talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse if any of the following apply to you: you have recently had a heart attack or stroke, chest pain, heart disease, high blood pressure, liver or kidney disease, diabetes, epilepsy, overactive thyroid, adrenal tumor, stomach or duodenal ulcer, or inflammation of the esophagus.

However, the risk of continued smoking always poses a greater danger than using this medicine.The chewing gum can get stuck in dentures and dental bridges and in some cases damage them.

The correct dose for adults can cause serious poisoning or death in children.It is therefore important that you always handle and store the medicine so that it is not visible or accessible to children.Adolescents between 12 and 17 years of age should only use this medicine if prescribed by a healthcare professional.The product must not be used by children under 12 years of age.

No effects on the ability to drive a car or use machines were noted.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

It is very important to stop smoking during pregnancy as it can cause poor growth of your baby.It can also lead to premature birth or stillbirth.It is best if you can stop smoking without using medicines that contain nicotine.If you are unable to do this, this medicine should only be used after consulting the healthcare professional caring for your pregnancy, your family doctor or a doctor who specializes in smoking cessation.

This supplement should be avoided while breastfeeding because nicotine passes into breast milk and may affect your baby.If your doctor has advised you to use it, chew the gum immediately after breastfeeding.

Smoking increases the risk of infertility in both women and men.The effects of nicotine on fertility are unknown.
