Area of application

Tavegil tablets are a remedy for allergic runny noses and itching, such as those that occur with hives.The preparation has a sedating effect, i.e. a depressant, and should therefore only be taken if this effect does not represent a limitation.It is approved for the treatment of itching caused by hives and allergic rhinitis, including hay fever and perennial allergic rhinitis.The active ingredient in Tavegil tablets is clemastine fumarate.

Additionally recommended is MAR® Nasal Spray PLUS Care, which helps care for, cleanse and moisten the nasal mucosa.It contains sea water and 3% dexpanthenol and is free of preservatives.The nasal spray is suitable for pregnant women, children and infants.

Each tablet contains 1.34 mg clemastine fumarate, which is equivalent to 1 mg clemastine.The following excipients are also included: lactose-1-water, lactose, magnesium stearate, corn starch, povidone and talc.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive or allergic to clemastine fumarate, other antihistamines with a similar chemical structure or any of the other ingredients.The drug must also not be used in the case of porphyria, a disordered formation of blood pigments.Its use is also contraindicated in angle-closure glaucoma, stenosing peptic ulcer, pyloroduodenal obstruction and symptomatic prostate enlargement with residual urine formation or bladder neck obstruction.Patients with impaired liver or kidney function should not use the tablets as there are insufficient data.Children under 1 year of age are also not allowed to receive the medicine.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as directed.If you are unsure, please ask your doctor or pharmacist.Without a doctor's advice, the usual dose for adults and adolescents aged 12 and over is 1 tablet each morning and evening.In severe cases, up to 6 tablets may be given within 24 hours, but not more than 2 tablets at a time.Children aged 6 to 12 years take ½ tablet twice a day, in severe cases 1 tablet twice a day.

It should not be used for longer than 14 days without consulting a doctor.If the effect is too strong or too weak, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.If you overdose, please inform your doctor or pharmacist immediately.Missed doses should not be compensated for by a double dose.Stopping treatment can result in the desired effect not occurring or the clinical picture getting worse again.If you have any further questions about use, please contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Intake

The tablets are taken morning and evening with water before meals.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the tablets if you suffer from heart disease, congenital Long-QT-syndrome or blood salt disorders.Antihistamines should be given with caution to patients with epilepsy or a history of seizures.Caution is also advised in older patients as they may be more susceptible to side effects such as paradoxical agitation.Use in elderly patients with confusion should be avoided.Do not exceed the recommended dosage and duration of use without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.

The medicine should not be given to children under 6 years of age as there is insufficient experience.Even when used as intended, this medicine can change your ability to react to such an extent that the ability to actively participate in road traffic or operate machines is impaired.This applies to an even greater extent when combined with alcohol.

Pregnancy

There are no data on the use of the drug during pregnancy.You should therefore only take the medicine during pregnancy on the express instructions of your doctor and only if your doctor considers it to be clearly necessary.The active substance of the drug is excreted in breast milk.Since substance effects on the breastfed baby cannot be ruled out, you may only take the medicine while breastfeeding if your doctor has expressly instructed you and only if he or she considers treatment to be clearly necessary.Before taking/using any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
