Areas of application

Vividrin Azelastine combination pack contains the active ingredient azelastine, which belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines.Antihistamines prevent the effects of substances produced by the body in connection with an allergic reaction.Azelastine reduces inflammation in the eyes and nose.It is used for the symptomatic treatment of seasonal allergic rhinoconjunctivitis, such as hay fever in combination with allergic conjunctivitis, in adults, adolescents and children aged 6 years and over.No prescription is required for this product.

Mode of action

When they come into contact with allergens, the body's own immune cells release more of the inflammatory messenger histamine, triggering an immune reaction.The well-tolerated active ingredient azelastine has a triple effect against the annoying symptoms: It inhibits the histamine receptors and thereby reduces the typical symptoms such as tearing as well as redness and itching of the eyes.In addition, the immune cells are stabilized and the release of histamine is reduced, and azelastine also has an anti-inflammatory effect.

Ingredients of Vividrin Azelastine combination pack: The active ingredient is azelastine hydrochloride.1 ml contains 0.5 mg azelastine hydrochloride.1 drop contains 0.018 mg azelastine hydrochloride.The other ingredients are sorbitol solution 70% (non-crystallizing) (Ph.Eur.), hypromellose, sodium edetate (Ph.Eur.), sodium hydroxide and water for injections.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the above ingredients, Vividrin Azelastine combination pack should not be used.

Dosage

Recommended use of Vividrin Azelastine combination pack: Carefully separate a single-dose container from the strip.Twist (do not pull) off the cap.Tilt your head back.Gently pull the lower eyelid down.Gently place a drop in the center of the lower eyelid.Be careful not to touch the eye with the dropper container to avoid contamination of the dropper container.Release your lower eyelid and gently press the inner corner of your eye against the bridge of your nose.Hold your finger against your nose and slowly blink your eyes a few times to spread the drop over the surface of the eye.Remove contact lenses before dripping and reinsert them after 15 minutes.

Use for eye problems caused by hay fever (seasonal allergic conjunctivitis): Use in adults and children aged 4 and over: The usual dose is 1 drop in each eye twice a day.If you expect to come into contact with flower pollen, you can use the usual Vividrin Azelastine combination pack dose as a preventive measure before you leave the house.

Use for eye problems caused by an allergy (non-seasonal (perennial) allergic conjunctivitis): Use in adults and children aged 12 and over: The usual dose is 1 drop in each eye twice a day.If you have severe symptoms, your doctor may also increase the dose to one drop in each eye up to four times a day.Relief from allergic conjunctivitis symptoms usually occurs after 15-30 minutes.
