Important information (compulsory information): Hemolax 5 mg enteric coated tablets. Active substance: bisacodyl. Indications: For use in adults and children aged 2 years and over. For the short-term treatment of constipation and diseases requiring easier bowel movements. Warning: Contains glucose, lactose and sucrose.
What is Hemolax and what is it used for?
Hemolax is a laxative from the group of triarylmethanes and is used for the short-term treatment of constipation and conditions requiring facilitated bowel movements.
What should you know before taking Hemolax?
Hemolax should not be taken if you are allergic to bisacodyl or any of the other ingredients of the medicine. In addition, Hemolax should not be used in cases of abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, fever or in infants under 2 years of age. Hemolax must also not be taken in diseases associated with disturbances of the water and mineral salt balance.
How should Hemolax be taken?
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the instructions for use or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Keep this leaflet in a safe place and ask your pharmacist for more information or advice. The usual dose for adults and children over 10 years of age is 1-2 tablets daily before bedtime. The tablets should be taken unchewed with plenty of liquid.
What are the possible side effects?
Like all medicines, Hemolax can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The most common side effects include abdominal pain and diarrhoea. Other possible side effects may include immediate allergic reactions, water loss, abdominal cramps, nausea, dizziness and loss of consciousness. Overdose may result in diarrhoea and fluid and salt loss.
How should Hemolax be stored?
Keep this medicine out of the reach of children and do not store it above 25 °C. Do not use it after the expiry date.

There are 100 enteric coated tablets in a pack of Hemolax, each containing 5 mg bisacodyl as the active ingredient. Note that Hemolax contains glucose, lactose and sucrose. The manufacturer of the medicinal product is Hemopharm GmbH.
