Information for use on the article Aurica Liquorice root tea: Indications: Catarrh of the upper respiratory tract; inflammatory disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. Contraindications: Liver diseases caused by bile stasis, cirrhosis of the liver, high blood pressure, reduction of the potassium content in the blood, severe kidney dysfunction, pregnancy. Dosage instructions and method of use: Drink a cup of the tea infusion prepared from 1 1/2 teaspoons (approx. 4.5 g) of liquorice root tea and boiling water (approx. 150 ml) 2 to 3 times a day. Duration of use: Without medical advice, tea infusions of liquorice root should not be drunk for longer than 4 to 6 weeks. Side effects: With prolonged use and higher dosage, mineralocorticoid effects may occur in the form of sodium and water retention, potassium loss with high blood pressure, oedema, reduction of the potassium content in the blood and in rare cases red colouring of the urine due to admixture of myoglobin.
