Mode of action

The ingredients in hawthorn leaf tea come from the hawthorn plant, which is known as a shrub-like tree with thorny branches, small, deeply lobed leaves and small white flowers.The ripe fruits are bright red.Hawthorn is mainly found in Europe and Asia.The main ingredients are procyanidins and flavonoids such as vitexin and hyperoside.The plant parts used are mainly extracts and tinctures of leaves, flowers and berries.The ingredients cause a slight increase in cardiac output by increasing the power of the heart and dilating the blood vessels.They improve blood flow to the heart muscle and coronary arteries.

Dosage instructions and method of application

Unless otherwise prescribed, a cup of the tea infusion prepared as follows is drunk 3 to 4 times a day: A small teaspoon full (approx. 1.5 g) of hawthorn leaves with flowers tea is brewed with boiling water (approx. 150 ml) and passed through a tea strainer after about 10 minutes.

There are no known contraindications.However, caution is advised if you are allergic to St. John's wort, hawthorn, cinnamon, birch, poplar buds, propolis, valerian, turmeric and rosin.
