Instructions for use for Hemolax 5 mg gastro-resistant coated tablets, 100 pcs
Area of application
This preparation is a laxative that belongs to the triarylmethane group.It is used for the short-term treatment of constipation and for conditions that require easier bowel movements.
Active ingredients and ingredients
The medicine contains 5 mg bisacodyl as the active ingredient.The excipients include cellacefat, microcrystalline cellulose, glucose syrup, potato starch, lactose 1 water, magnesium stearate (vegetable), corn dextrin, corn starch, montan glycol wax, long chain partial glycerides, virgin castor oil, sucrose, colloidal silicon dioxide, talc and titanium dioxide.
Contraindications
This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to bisacodyl or any of the other ingredients.The product should also not be used if you have symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or fever, as these symptoms can indicate serious illnesses.In such cases you should seek medical advice immediately.In addition, the medicine must not be taken by children under 2 years of age.The medicine should also not be used in illnesses that are associated with water and mineral salt imbalances.
Dosage
Always take the medicine exactly as described or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.The recommended dose for adults and children over 10 years of age is 1 to 2 coated tablets (5 to 10 mg) daily before bedtime to achieve a rapid effect.Children aged 2 to 10 years should take 1 coated tablet (5 mg each) daily before going to bed.Children up to 10 years of age with chronic constipation should only be treated on medical advice.
The medicine may only be used for a short period of time, up to a week at most, without a doctor's instructions.If you have chronic constipation, you should consult your doctor.If you feel that the effect is too strong or too weak, please talk to your doctor.
Overdose can cause diarrhea and abdominal cramps with high losses of fluid, potassium and other mineral salts.In such cases you should consult your doctor for advice.The treatment depends on the prevailing symptoms and, if necessary, the fluid and salt losses must be compensated.If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose.
No prescription is required for this product.
Intake
The coated tablets should be taken whole in the evening or morning on an empty stomach with plenty of liquid.Taking it in the evening leads to bowel emptying after around 10 hours, while taking it in the morning on an empty stomach takes effect after around 6 hours.
Patient information
Laxatives should only be taken for a short time if you are constipated.If you have chronic constipation, you should ask your doctor for advice before taking it.Increased fluid loss can lead to dehydration, which can have harmful effects, particularly in patients with impaired kidney function or the elderly.In such cases, the intake should be interrupted and only continued under medical supervision.Patients have reported blood in the stool, generally described as mild and resolving on its own.
No studies on the effect on the ability to drive and use machines have been conducted.Please note that side effects may occur that could theoretically affect driving and operating machines.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.Since the introduction of bisacodyl, no undesirable or harmful effects during pregnancy have been reported.Studies on use during pregnancy have not been conducted.Therefore, like all medicines, this should only be used during pregnancy after consulting your doctor.It has been shown that the active ingredient does not pass into breast milk, so the medicine can be used during breastfeeding.
