Information for use with the article Valerian tincture: - Important information (compulsory information): Valerian tincture Oral tincture. Active substance: valerian root (1:5 [Verhältnis Droge zu Auszugsmittel]); extraction agent: ethanol 70% (V/V). Indications: Herbal medicinal product for restlessness, nervous sleep disorders. Warning: Contains 66% alcohol by volume. What is valerian tincture and what is it used for? - Valerian tincture is a herbal medicinal product for calming. It is used for restlessness and nervous sleep disorders. How should valerian tincture be taken? - For calming purposes, one teaspoonful (approx. 2.5 ml) of valerian tincture is taken 2-3 times a day. For the treatment of sleep disorders, a teaspoonful (approx. 5 ml) of valerian tincture is taken half an hour before going to bed. If necessary, an additional teaspoonful can be taken before dinner. It is taken diluted with a little water. How should valerian tincture be kept? - Valerian tincture should be kept tightly closed and protected from light. It should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be used after the expiry date. What does valerian tincture contain? - 100 g valerian tincture contain 100 g tincture of valerian root (1:5 [Verhältnis Droge zu Auszugsmittel]) with an extractant of ethanol 70% (V/V). Side effects: - No side effects are currently known for valerian tincture. Contraindications [Verhältnis Droge zu Auszugsmittel]: - Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the ingredients and in children under 12 years of age. Use is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Important information: - The medicinal product may impair the ability to react, especially in combination with alcohol.
