Instructions for use for Lavasorb wound irrigation solution

Lavasorb wound irrigation solution is a ready-to-use solution for local use in wound care.It contains the active ingredients polyhexanide (PHMB) and macrogol (polyethylene glycol 4000) in an aqueous Ringer solution.No prescription is required for this product.

Ingredients

1 Liter of Lavasorb wound irrigation solution contains the following ingredients: Polyhexanidum 0.40 g, Macrogolum 4000 0.02 g, sodium chloride 8.60 g, calcium chloride dihydrate 0.33 g, potassium chloride 0.30 g and purified water ad 1 liter.The theoretical osmolarity is 309 mosm/l and the pH is between 5.0 and 7.0.

After first opening the bottle, the solution should be used within 6 weeks.

Application and benefits

Lavasorb wound irrigation solution is available in a practical and handy plastic screw bottle that is easy to hold in the hand and can be easily connected to vacuum sealing systems.

For soft tissue wounds, the solution can be applied directly to the wound to clean and irrigate it.By applying soaked compresses for 10 to 15 minutes, biofilms can be dissolved on the wound.Wound cleaning can also be done with a moistened cotton ball or swab.The intensive moistening of wound dressings makes dressing changes easier.Superficial and deep soft tissue wounds can be covered with longuettes or compresses soaked in Lavasorb.

Lavasorb can be used intraoperatively to rinse and keep the surgical area moist during a surgical procedure.The solution is also suitable for moistening compresses and cleaning instruments on the operating table.Wounds left open postoperatively can be covered with longuettes soaked in Lavasorb.

Lavasorb is compatible with vacuum sealing systems and enables efficient removal of toxic bacterial decay products.By rinsing the sponge, the sealing intervals can be extended.

Lavasorb wound irrigation solution is characterized by good skin and mucous membrane compatibility.It does not dry out the skin and mucous membranes and does not cause irritation or tissue irritation because it is an isotonic Ringer's solution.The painless application to the wound area is another advantage.The colorless solution leaves no stains on the skin, wound dressings or textiles and enables a good assessment of the wound conditions.
