Instructions for use for NUROFEN 400 mg soft capsules, 20 pcs
NUROFEN 400 mg Ibuprofen soft capsules
NUROFEN 400 mg Ibuprofen soft capsules are a painkiller from Reckitt Benckiser GmbH that was specially developed for adults and teenagers aged 12 and over. The red soft capsules contain ibuprofen in dissolved form, which allows for rapid absorption by the body. This results in effective and long-lasting relief from mild to moderate pain, such as migraines, headaches, toothaches, back pain, abdominal pain, and cold or flu-related pain.Ibuprofen also has an anti-inflammatory effect.
Headache
Headaches are common.According to the Robert Koch Institute, 57.5% of women and 44.4% of men in Germany are affected by it at least once a year. The duration of a typical headache can vary from less than 30 minutes to several hours.
Toothache
Toothaches can be caused by sensitive teeth and gums. They are often a continuous, throbbing pain, but can also occur at intervals, sometimes stronger and sometimes weaker.
Back pain
Back pain, particularly low back pain, is a common problem that affects people of all ages.A nationwide study found that 61.3% of people in Germany had back pain in the last twelve months. The study was conducted between October 2019 and March 2020.
Period pain
Period pain is the most commonly reported menstrual problem. Most women have experienced period pain at some point. These usually begin in the teenage years, around 1-2 years after the first period, when the cycle is established.
Area of application
The NUROFEN 400 mg Ibuprofen soft capsules contain ibuprofen in dissolved form, which quickly relieves pain.Ibuprofen belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs/anti-rheumatic drugs (NSAR).The liquid core of the soft capsules ensures that the body absorbs the ibuprofen more quickly than conventional tablets. The soft capsules are easy to swallow and are used to relieve mild to moderate pain such as migraines, headaches, period pain, toothache and fever associated with colds.
NUROFEN is used in adults and adolescents weighing 40 kg or more (12 years or older) for the short-term symptomatic treatment of:
- mild to moderate pain such as headaches, toothaches and period pains;
- Fever and pain associated with cold.
Contact your doctor if you don't feel better or if you feel worse:
- after 3 days in children and adolescents
- after 3 days for fever or after 4 days for pain in adults

Patient information
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine:
- if you have an infection - see “Infections”".
- in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or mixed connective tissue disease (diseases in which incorrect immune system reactions cause joint pain, skin rashes and fever).
- in certain congenital blood formation disorders (e.g. acute intermittent porphyria) or problems with blood clotting.
- in case of gastrointestinal disease, including a history (ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease).
- with impaired kidney function.
- with impaired liver function.
- immediately after major surgical procedures.
- if you suffer or have suffered from asthma or allergic diseases, as shortness of breath may occur.
- in patients who suffer from hay fever, nasal polyps or chronic obstructive respiratory diseases, as they are at increased risk of allergic reactions occurring. These can manifest themselves as asthma attacks (so-called analgesic asthma), acute swelling (Quincke's edema) or hives.
- if you are taking medicines that may increase the risk of ulcers or bleeding, such as:B. oral corticosteroids, anticoagulant medications such as warfarin, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, which are used, among other things, to treat depressive moods, or platelet aggregation inhibitors such as acetylsalicylic acid (ASA).
Further information:
- Signs of an allergic reaction, including difficulty breathing, swelling of the face and neck (angioedema), and chest pain, have been reported with use of ibuprofen.Stop using the medicine and seek medical attention immediately if you notice any of these signs.
- Long-term use of headache medications may cause headaches to worsen. If this is the case or suspected, you should stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor.
- You should avoid taking this preparation during a chickenpox infection (varicella infection).
- If the drug is administered for a long time, regular monitoring of liver values, kidney function and blood counts is necessary.
- Simultaneous use of this preparation with other NSAR, including so-called COX-2 inhibitors (cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors), may increase the risk of side effects and should therefore be avoided.
- In general, habitual use of (various types of) painkillers can cause permanent, serious kidney damage and should therefore be avoided. The risk is further increased by salt loss and dehydration.
- There is a risk of kidney dysfunction in dehydrated adolescents.
- Anti-inflammatories/pain relievers such as ibuprofen may be associated with a slightly increased risk of a heart attack or stroke, especially when used in high doses.Do not exceed the recommended dose or treatment duration.
You should discuss your treatment with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you:
- have heart disease, including heart failure and angina (chest pain), or have had a heart attack, bypass surgery, peripheral arterial disease (problems with blood flow in the legs or feet due to narrowed or blocked arteries), or any type of stroke (including mini-stroke or transient ischemic attack ("TIA")).
- Have high blood pressure, diabetes or high cholesterol, or a family history of heart disease or stroke, or if you smoke.
- Side effects can be reduced by using the lowest effective dose for the shortest period of time necessary to control symptoms.Side effects are more common in older patients.
Infections
- The medicine may mask signs of infection such as fever and pain.It is therefore possible that the product may delay appropriate treatment of the infection, which may lead to an increased risk of complications. This has been seen in bacterial pneumonia and bacterial skin infections associated with chickenpox. If you take this medicine during an infection and your infection symptoms persist or worsen, consult a doctor immediately.
Skin reactions
- Severe cutaneous reactions, including exfoliative dermatitis, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS), and acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), have been reported in association with ibuprofen treatment.Stop using the medicine and seek medical attention immediately if you notice any of the symptoms of this serious skin reaction described under “Side effects”.
Consult a doctor before using this medicine if any of the above concerns you.
Ability to drive and use machines
- When used as directed for the short term, this medicine has no or negligible effect on driving and operating machines. If you suffer from drowsiness, dizziness or visual disturbances while taking the medicine, you should avoid driving or operating machines. This applies to an even greater extent when combined with alcohol.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Pregnancy:
Tell your doctor if you become pregnant while taking this medicine.
You must not take the product in the last 3 months of pregnancy.Avoid using this medicine in the first 6 months of pregnancy unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
Lactation
Only small amounts of ibuprofen and its breakdown products pass into breast milk. This medicine can therefore be taken during breast-feeding if used at the recommended dosage and for the shortest possible time.
Reproductive ability:
This medicine belongs to a group of medicines (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) that can affect women's ability to have children. This effect is reversible (reversible) once the drug is discontinued.
